Activate only when a Synchro Monster is Special Summoned to your opponent’s side of the field. Take control of that Synchro Monster. Remove it from play when it is destroyed. Destroy this card when that monster is removed from the field.

Very specific counter effects usually follows a pattern in card games. They are released when a kind of gameplay or monster are very prominent at the time or competitively, offering players cards to build a Side Deck ready to face those kind of builds. Very rarely they have a spot in the deck itself, as the game continuously changes as new cards, banlist modifications, and different strategies keep appearing.

“Tuner’s Scheme” was one of many anti-Synchro cards which appeared during the time of 5Ds. When activated in response of a summoned Synchro (No matter if is Synchro summoned, revived from the graveyard, or even a “Stardust Dragon” summoned by “Starlight Road”), we take control of that monster as long this card is on the field. As a plus, the affected monster is banished of the game if is destroyed, forcing the opponent to destroy the trap itself if they don’t wanna lose the monster for a future special summon.

Due the efficiency of this card heavily depends of what deck we’re facing, is difficult to play an entire strategy with it. Decks like Plants, Six Samurai, or Karakuri are still big Synchro based decks in a game where Xyz monster (And whatever comes in the future) are now the big hit in both competitive and casual play. Certain builds might be focused on Xyz or Fusion monsters, but can still carry one or two Synchro monsters, like “Mecha Phantom Beast Concoruda” or “Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Kirin” on their respective archetypes. There’s still some Synchro monsters which are staples on Extra Decks as long the owner carries one or two tuners, like “Stardust Dragon”, “Black Rose Dragon”, “Ally of Justice Catastor”, or “T.G. Hyper Lybrarian”. Last, there’re the Decks which heavily relies on Synchro summoning certain monsters and “Tuner’s Scheme” can completely ruin their plans, like the Nordic archetype completely focused on bring to the field the Aesir trio, or Assault Mode trying to upgrade them right ater summoning them.

There’s a few tricks you can use in combination of “Tuner’s Scheme”. “Foolish Revival” can force the opponent to special summon a Synchro monster from the graveyard so we can steal it with the trap card. If your deck is also Synchro themed, “Variety Comes Out” can get rid of the stolen monster and get several Tuners on the field, which we cannot use inmediately for Synchro summon but yes to Xyz summon, Tribute, and so on. Last, “Give and Take” also helps in our Synchro build, as revive one of our own Synchro monsters on the opponent’s field, and “Tuner’s Scheme” can retrieve it. If the opponent is about to destroy the trap card and get back the monster, respond with “Book of Moon” or “Book of Eclipse”, as the monster will be no longer affected by the card and will remain on our field and so won’t be banished if destroyed.

“Tuner’s Scheme” happens as much as other similar cards. Is devastating against specific cards and builds, but that’s it. If your area is full of Synchro players you can easily use it in your main deck, but said people might suddenly change their game plan for go with another strategy and make “Tuner’s Scheme” completely useless. However, Synchro monsters are still quite prominent by several reasons, even if now the game is ruled by Xyz monsters and what’s to come new in the future. So unless you wanna play arround “Give and Take”, “Tuner’s Scheme” has a good spot on the Side Deck for ruin certain decks.

Bueno, estaba buscando las cosas de mi padre que murió, hoy. Buscando en una de sus cajas viejas, tratando de encontrar algunos comics raros de Spiderman qué el guardó para vender en eBay después. Me topé con su Game Boy original, en el que jugaba mucho. Tenía Pokémon azul en el. Yo pensé, ¿por que diablos no? y lo prendí. Continué desde la vieja salvada de mi padre, Mire sus items y luego sus Pokémon. Su equipo era terrible, un Zubat, un Raticate, un Beedrill, pero su Blastoise, su Blastoise tenía mi nombre.
